Destined to be an entrepreneur, Elizabeth Showers started her business in 1996. “My original goal was just about starting my own business, making it successful, and designing pretty jewelry,” Showers says. Driven by inspiration from her past, the simple idea of “designing pretty jewelry” has since taken on a much stronger purpose. Today Showers’ company mission is to “Empower all women to feel beautiful.” With the encouragement of her family and close friends, she found the courage and strength to recover from an eating disorder in her early twenties. “I believe that a subconscious reason for starting the business came from the newfound confidence I experienced after recovery. For so many years I let other people make decisions for me, and this was a way to make a decision for myself—perhaps to empower myself," explains Showers. The unique design of the Hope Star was created and placed on every piece of jewelry to represent her mission. “I didn't feel good about myself during my eating disorder 17 plus years ago, so the Hope Star serves as a constant reminder of the decision I made that helped save my life—to quit waiting to live my life, and to live it in the now.” The Hope Star Collection was introduced to raise money and awareness for the National Eating Disorders Association and the Eliza Project, a Dallas based non-profit organization.
After 13 years of designing jewelry, Showers’ collections continue to impress her growing clientele. Her most recent Couture Collection is bursting with optimism, using vibrant color stories portrayed through the use of yellow sapphires, peach moonstones, and precious turquoise stones showcased in 18 karat yellow gold. Her rings present a fresh spin on the classic round and teardrop shapes, perfectly designed for stacking—a must have for this season. “I am inspired by a variety of things: architecture, people, culture, art, and things I am exposed to while traveling, particularly the wildlife in Africa and Costa Rica,” says Showers. “I find beautiful shapes everywhere, from the carpet in a hotel room, ceiling tiles in an old building, to designs in the fabrics my mom uses for decorating. She herself is a huge inspiration.” Originally from Hillsboro, today Showers calls Dallas home, a city packed with inspirational possibilities. “I think Dallas is a sophisticated city filled with fun, smart people,” she says. “It’s a great place for the arts—I have recently been inspired by working with a few fabulous art collectors and their teams. Dallas is such a convenient city, I feel spoiled to all that is available to us here.”
