Fall is fashion’s season. Runways around the world are the mise-en-scène for the next big thing in design, and we, the anxiously awaiting masses, get our first glimpse of the cuts, the colors, the arrangements and embellishments of what we will be wearing tomorrow. With the vast array of stylish boutiques and designers that make up our city, our problem here in Dallas stems not from what to wear come Fall, but how to wear it. Some of those amazing fashions just aren’t conducive to our climate, ask any woman in full-on ski bunny gear standing in 100 degree heat. On the next few pages, we offer some of the must-haves for Fall, as outlined by our new fashion correspondent Mikalyn Young, and some oh-so gorgeous ways to look hot and stay cool.
"Jewel of the Nile"
This Fall, look for jewel tones in anything from dresses to jackets. We recommend this gorgeous emerald Victorian-inspired frock for a night on the town.
“It matters if you’re black and white”
Classic black and white makes a return this Fall, and jumpsuits are retro as well. Keep the heat away in an ultra sexy satin jumpsuit, and add a jacket for evening attire.
“Good time to in-Vest”
This Fall, a vest means light-weight and high-fashion. Wear one over a jewel-toned top and pair with leggings, or don a suit-vest on its own for an extra cool effect.
“Biker Chic”
A tough, urban look is all the rage this season, and a fitted leather jacket and knee-high boots are a great way to channel that inner bad girl. Pair them with a light tee and jeans, or a sundress for a glamorously dangerous appeal.
“Metallica Rocks”
Metallic anything is hot- the more glare you get, the better. Accessorize with metal colors—whether it’s a clutch or a pair of pumps—but don’t go head-to-toe tinfoil.
